First Canadian beers!!

Há alguns dias o Ravi e a Soraya me convidaram para ir até a casa deles. Apesar de ele ter me dito que havia sobrado algumas latinhas do final de semana, peguei mais umas no caminho, só para garantir. Papo gostoso. O Ravi fritou uma linguiça lá e nem vi o tempo passar. Só o Arthur que teve o seu ambiente invadido por aquele estranho e ficou com um pouco de vergonha no começo...mas logo foi chegando perto e deu tudo certo... Agora vamos combinar de virem aqui. Afinal, já tenho cadeiras para recebê-los....

A few days ago I was invited to visit Ravi and Soraya´s place. Even though he said there were still some beers left from the weekend, I thought would be safer to get some more. Ravi got some sausages fried. Nice chatting as time passed by. Their boy, Arthur, who had his space stolen by that stranger, was a little ashamed in the beginning... but soon he got closer and everything went alright. Now its my turn to have them here. I´ve already got the chairs. No more excuses...

When I was about to leave, people asked me where I was going to stay during my first days here in Calgary. I tried to explain but nobody seemed to believe me. The conversation was something like this:

- Where are you staying when you first arrive in Calgary?
- I´ll be staying at a Brazilian´s house.
- Cool! When did you meet him?
- To be honest, I haven´t met him yet.
- Ah, I got it. You are going to meet each other there, at your arrival, right?
- No, he won´t be there. He will be here in Brazil.
- And who is going to be there when you arrive then?
- Nobody. He is going to leave the keys with a friend of his and I´ll be by myself until I find a place for me.
- Let me see... This guy doesn´t know you, he won´t be there and he will let you in his house alone??....hummmm
- That´s right.... and he is going to leave me a car GPS, his daughter´s mobile and his computer password as well.
- Aham... I see you later...

And the guy would leave without believing in a single word I had said. And you? Would you believe that?

Quando me perguntavam onde eu ia ficar ao chegar aqui em Calgary eu tentava explicar mas ninguém acreditava em mim. O diálogo era mais ou menos assim:

- Onde você vai ficar quando chegar lá?
- Na casa de um brasileiro.
- Que legal! Onde você o conheceu?
- Para falar a verdade, eu não o conheci ainda.
- Ah, entendi. Você vai conhecê-lo lá, na chegada, certo?
- Não, ele não estará lá. Ele estará aqui no Brasil.
- E quem vai te receber na casa então?
- Ninguém, ele vai deixar a chave da casa com um amigo dele e eu vou ficar lá sozinho até encontrar um local para mim.
- Sei... Não te conhece, não vai estar lá e vai deixar você ficar na casa dele sozinho...hummmmm
- É isso aí... E ainda vai me deixar o GPS, o celular da filha dele e a senha do computador.
- Aham... Entendi... A gente se fala mais tarde então...

E o cara ia embora sem acreditar em nada do que eu havia dito. E você? Acreditaria??

Jaime and Luisa were also fantastic. They helped me with all the new Canadian documents, the search of a place to live and also with a lot of lifts when I did not have a car yet and the freezing wind was ready to kill. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Outras pessoas fantásticas foram o Jaime e a Luisa. Eles me ajudaram com os documentos, na busca de apartamento e com muitas caronas quando eu ainda não tinha o carro e o frio estava de matar. A voces o meu MUITO OBRIGADO!!

My arrival in Calgary!!

Hi Folks! These are Paulo and Eliane, my new friends here in Calgary. This picture was taken on the day of my arrival here. They missed their Sunday lunch to pick me up at the airport. I guess they thought I would pay a big Sunday lunch that day. Poor them!! Since then, we have been meeting each other almost every week. They have helped me with very important information and this is a little note just to say THANK YOU SO MUCH, my friends!!




Olá Pessoal! Estes são o Paulo e a Eliane, meus novos amigos aqui em Calgary. Esta foto foi tirada no dia da minha chegada aqui. Eles deixaram de lado o almoço de domingo para me buscar no aeroporto. Eu acho que eles pensaram que eu pagaria o almoço deles depois. Pobres coitados!! Desde então, temos nos encontrado quase toda a semana. Eles têm me ajudado com informações relevantes e essa notinha aqui é só para dizer MUITO OBRIGADO, meus amigos!!

RETA FINAL - SEGUNDO ATO

Na noite deste último sábado, 10/01, nova reunião de despedida na casa de meus amigos (e padrinhos) Alemão e Yone e de meu afilhados Rodrigo e Kelly. Muita alegria e muita música caipira. Muita comida gostosa também. Estiveram lá a família do Fernando, do Renato, do Rafael, do Henri-Japa e outros amigos. Obrigado pelo carinho e pela torcida. Abraços e beijos a todos.

RETA FINAL - PRIMEIRO ATO

Ontem fizemos um primeiro encontro de despedida. Reuni meus familiares mais próximos e alguns amigos íntimos para uma reuniãozinha informal. Foram muitos os votos de sucesso e felicidade no Canadá e também foram muitas as promessas de que serei visitado em breve. Como promessa é dívida, vou cobrar!! Abraços e beijos.
